Yes, none of us could believe it...but one of the stars appearing at Caesars Palace was caught pocketing some goods over at Shoppers World . I think it made the front page of The Framingham News, it is memorable, because in those days movie and entertainment stars were so much more chaste , and they avoided publicity that was not good.
Then one day, after hiding their personal lives and secrets they found out that publicity was food that kept their names in front of the public. The movie magazines had a' heyday', paparazzi started to function and sell pictures to magazines. Fans that once read magazines that could only hint and guess, were now starting to tell outright lies and make up stories in 'cahoots' with the stars, and or without their knowledge....the world was beginning to change.
Teachers were beginning to realize that they had to tell their classes, not to believe everything they read, even though yellow journalism had been popular in many of the Hearst papers and discussed as such, it became even more apparent with the movie magazines, gossip columnists, etc.
Do you remember who he was?
