Could this be a Dear John? (see letter on the ground, next to the sobbing soldier's leg and the soldier next to them, also reading mail)
My comments
We had no choice, if you read the books about the Second World War, the world was overpowered, America had to step in. Our boys were untrained, young , innocent of war, our country had dismantled the factories that produced for World War 1, as a result, our troops were not properly supplied or trained as they left Norfolk,Va for Morocco, Africa... for the start of the Africa campaign and our entry into the war, with General George Patton, leading....It still brings tears to my eyes, and what a miracle that my uncles survived! Dear John letters were a subject, broken families, gold and silver stars, bronze stars...the heartbreak of war, was all around us, and so were practice black outs for potential air raids...How could a child ever forget? Startling things help you to remember. The world was in turmoil.....Our freedom, our way of life, the best country in the world to beome your own man, to be what you wanted to be, all was in danger...... we had to fight not only for ourselves but for the protection of the greatest navy in the World, the British Navy...which would have been lost to Hitler, if we did not help....then what?
Just think about what freedoms we have! This week..one of the greatest female leaders of the Century is booed and called a Witch, the freedom to do that came from the sacrifices in this war...she can not even die with dignity, as the very mobs she targeted( to replace dignity and jobs for the English people ) rage in glee... Do we really know what we want as a world, or as a country?
