My comments....Framingham boys left on those ships in the morning light and fought a ferocious battle in North Africa, before Patton led them into Italy... where would the landing craft come from?  We were churning out as fast as we could the equipment they needed, it was incredible how fast we could produce...read, Freedoms Forge, my book review of this fabulous book is on madlynfafard.blogspot.com...They were so brave, yet so green when they left our shores, not properly trained, yet, the love that poured forth, especially when they reached Italy, was incredible.
