The Framingham History Center celebrates Women's History Month with... Libby Franck portraying Mary Ware Dennett - Survivor of Scandal, Agent of Reform Sunday, March 24 2:00 pm Historic Village Hall 2 Oak St, Framingham While living in the Dennett enclave in Framingham, Mary and her architect husband Hartley were leaders of the local Arts and Crafts Movement. Mary faced public disgrace as her husband pursued his client and "soul mate" Margaret Chase. After notorious divorce trials to win custody of her two young sons, Mary turned to her New England roots as a fearless reformer for the betterment of society. Her contributions to Women's Suffrage, World Peace and Birth Control were significant, yet her fear of public scrutiny borne from her personal trials compelled her to hide from the limelight. Libby Franck, well-known local reenactor, brings Framingham's Mary Ware Dennett to life with an amazing story that is deserving of study and appreciation.
